Hello all, laptop was not working, ordered a motherboard replacement, it doesn't work either, I think this replacement is defective, tried different processors and RAM. It powers on but it won't POST.

Bios has 3.3V in pins 3, 7 and 8.

Appreciate any input.

You can check on L506 and L507 for 0.9V and on pin 40 of U504 for 3.3v that ISL6264 is sending power good signal.

Thanks for the assistance, I have 0V measurement while probing both sides simultaneously and 0.8V while testing against ground in both inductors and 3.3V in pin 40 of ISL6264.

How do you know that those inductors have to have 0.9V?

On the title of page 11 (VCC CORE regulator) it defines it clearly +V0.9S but actually the voltage generated by the regulator depends on the processor you have (check processor datasheet). Regulator uses for this the VID signals.

If you are looking for the last signals before post, these are BUF_PLT_RST# and LDT_RST#.

Don't forget and the clock generator which sends clock signal to everyone before post.

BUF_PLT_RST# is 3.3V, LDT_RST# is usually 1.05V. For RTM880T-797 you need a frequency counter or a DSO.

I was able to read 3.3V in BUF_PLT_RST# in W83L351YG, but I couldn't find a way to measure LDT_RST# and to make matters worse I don't have an oscilloscope.

I've tried 3 different processors on this board, so I assume the problem is in this replacement board.

To measure LDT_RST#, take out processor from socket, put a needle in B7 hole, power up and measure.

No 3.3v on pin 1? Switch bios chips with previous board or problem with KBC.

Hello, I thought I had to have the processor in the socket, I wanted to confirm it's not a problem with the processors.

Yeah, I don't have 3.3V in pin 1 of BIOS, I'm going to swap eeprom and flash BIOS from Toshiba site.

When I desoldered BIOS chip, pin 1 had 3.3V in the pad; I don't have 3.3v in pin 1 with chips from old and replacement motherboards.

What is the voltage on pin 94 of U515 (KBC)?
Also what are the voltages on all pins of CN5?

CN5 is LCD connector right? Power ON or OFF voltages?

Give voltage and resistance to ground on all pins of Q15. Voltage with power on, resistance with power off.

pin2: 18k ohms (moving down)
pin3: 4m ohms (moving down)
pin4: 10k ohms (moving up and down)
pin5: 20k ohms (moving down)
pin6: 20k ohms (moving down)

Pin1: 3.3V
Pin2: 3.3V
Pin3: 0V
Pin4: 3.3V
Pin5: 3.3V
Pin6: 3.3V

Also to note, motherboard powered off while measuring voltages in Q15 once.

Problem with KBC. You must change it.
