what is causing this issue?

Laptop powers on only after discharging on power button press and hold...

Got same one right here now. It turns off during windows installation and during boot to windows. bad luck coz I don't have tantalum caps left. It arrives tomorrow

How they you fix yours? Mine got a huge problem after replacing tokin with 4 caps, it does not power anymore. Strange, I'm 100% sure I did not short anything. I did a clean job removing the nec tokin. This is the first time it happened to me

lez,

same thing happened to my board.

cmos battery should be removed first before removing nec tokin chip.

measure resistance PL3 to ground if shorted.
if shorted, remove SIO chip and retest PL3 resistance to ground.
if no short anymore, replace SIO.

i have ordered the part and will be delivered tomorrow or a day after tomorrow.

check SIO chip if it has this part number ----> KB926QF D3

Oh my, I forgot to remove cmos battery already tested pl3 and pl4 got no short. Part no. of SIO is the same as yours. Where did yo order it?

I also notice that PU4 is getting very hot the minute I plugged the charger. Thanks man!

yes I did, replaced nec tokin cap with 4 tantalum caps

I have a problem, the led turns on when plugging the adapter, the power button led also light up upon pressing, but the fan is not running. Checked the fan terminal there's around 2-3v. What to do with this? Im new in repairing laptops and I want to learn and be able to fix it. Please help me.
