    Convert Laptop display in a mobile display

    Hi everyone, after years of use I had to throw away a beautiful Asus UX305UA with i7 6500u processor. The CPU shorted out and overheated as soon as I plugged it in. patience. I held the display. I ran to cut the connector and solder the pins to an HDMI female and a suitable power supply. but I don't know the diagram of this particular cable (I attach photos).

    Could someone help me understand which wires I can use for video and which for power? and how much power is needed?

    Hello.
    You will need a lcd controller board. Open the display enclosure, or search for some reference about the model of display your computer uses. For its age, it should be an eDP one, but better be sure.

    Then you need an adequate controller and cable for it. The controller will take care of powering the display. You cannot simply solder a HDMI connector, these displays do not work like that.

      uhh, really?
      What a sadness, I was hoping it would be simpler. if it requires an additional controller I avoid making further expenses. I thought I could get by with some soldering and maybe a DC power supply... so I give up. Thank you for your patience and kind response.

        Tho you can just solder a displayport connector and use it like that. You just need additional 3v3 for display and 8-20V or so for backlight (altho 5V seems to work on many displays aswell). No additional controllers needed.

        I use a USBC sink module set to 12V and a buck regulator module set to 3v3.
        The hard part is making the connections between display and DP connector.
