HP Pavilion G6 1146sf - loop starts for half a second

    Hi,

My cousin just gave me her computer to see if I could repair it. It fell off her couch yesterday, and now all it does is : start for half a second (leds blink and fan spins), and it does that constantly every 5 seconds or so.
So I slowly removed everything that was plugged to the motherboard and starting each time with no luck, and now there nothing left on it but the soldered Core i3 370m and the problem remains...

Anyone has seen this before ?

I have had bad CPUs that show those symptoms

Yeah she told me the computer was in use when it felt so being warm, I guess it could have damaged even more the motherboard. I see no visual damage on it though.

Find schematic, and start measuring primary and secondary voltages. Measure current when it resets the machine.

Ok the problem "evolved" (I didn't do anything particular apart from removing the switch from the upper case) :
          - once turned on, the fan spins really fast and slowly goes to a normal speed, it then turns off. After a few seconds, in turns on again by itself, doing the same thing as previously but it doesn't turn off, instead after about two minutes, the fan goes to its maximum speed and remains this way until I turn it off. I don't feel any component getting hotter than they should.

while its running like this, try putting a good flashlight to screen to see if there is a image of sorts also try connecting to a external monitor, worth a try

Well no luck, nothing on screen, nothing on external screen. I've even tried a reflow but no change.
