        spidey,

my apology. i was incorrect about the model. it is dv5-1030EE not dv6. AMD turion x2 Ultra 64 processor. it has PQ41 though and i tested it ok...

i've search the schematic and i found a quanta mobo which is not the one we are working on. its a hannstar j mv-4.
        does anyone have this schematic?
        please share. thanks

i made some test on the voltages always on. 5 volts is present, 3 volts is missing. i will investigate further.

Have you tried reflowing the video chips? if so maybe the video chip was damage already or faulty even though you tried a minimal reheating sometimes the chips easily yield and broke and need reballing. I have the same problem with Compaq CQ40 when i tried to reheat or reflow it burst out a small led from the chips. Am not sure if someone out here already encountered this kind of scenario..

            kent,

yes i made a reflow on the gpu with same symptoms. just wondering why i dont have 3.3 volts. 5 volts is ok.

voltage is present from source, .08 volts on gate. gate coming from isl6265. dont have chip to test.

do you have schematic of this dv5?

            regards
            Francis

Are you measured resistance to 3.3V coil?

Isl6265 chip has Enable pins which turn on 3.3V and 5V voltages.
