Re: Acer aspire 5334 stuck on start
-- So I understand this thread is a couple of years old, but I was given the same exact laptop with the same problem. I'm hoping that maybe "primoz1" is still active in this forum and will read this --
-I have an ACER ASPIRE 5334 : Model PAWF6 and when it's powered on it just sits on the ACER Splash screen with "PRESS <F2> TO ENTER SETUP" down on the bottom left. I am almost %100 positive it's the same exact problem Primoz1 had and was able to fix it by replacing the BIOS chip?????
-I have tried pulling out memory, hard drive, wificard and even used a metal bridge to connect the j6 (to reset the bios) and still the same thing.
* I found some instructions for a "FORCED FLASH BIOS UPDATE" but they was incomplete. I was able to get some reaction from the laptop trying what I was able to get for the FORCED FLASH, it came up showing all the laptops information/bios info and listed the devices (CD/DVD ROM) hardware info - then just sat there. I did the following to get this....
-Took out the battery-
-Then i held down both keys (FN+ESC) and plugged in the AC POWER Cable which then the power led blinked - released keys. I then powered it on with the USB Drive with the latest BIOS firmware on it with a gen. flashit.exe (i don't think i set it up right actually) and the Flash Drive lights up and blinks at first as if it was going to be read it and then just remains lit. Does the same thing to another thumb drive I have with nothing on it - so not sure even if it was setup %100 correctly if it would matter.
So if anyone has any suggestions on how I can reflash the BIOS or if there is anything I can do to reset it or force reflash anything??? I am hoping to find out more information on replacing the BIOS chip since that seems to be what I'm going to have to do; is it soldered to the board? Where and how much would it cost to get a replacement and so on. Any information would be helpful.
Thanks to all!
