Lenovo Thinkpad R61 video chip issue.

I got one problem, I try lift the GPU chip (nvidia) from this board, but this lenovo boards is a little tricky, becouse the epoxy is put under the chip in all corners, (look red marks on attachet picture) this is not red epoxy but some transparent sh** and no way to lift the chip, maybe if I use tweezers and force, but Im afraid I would pull out some pins from board or chip.

I look this video on youtube but Im a little skeptical that this is the right way to lift this chip, too much force and board movement.

Is any sugesstions how resolve this problem ?

    Thankyou.

I manage to lift the chip, well heated with a little bit of force, but just little.
Now I'm having trouble cleaning the epoxy of the chip.
    Will get back with feedback!

Ojoj. This transparent epoxy is pain in the ass

I put flux and with soldering iron (knife tip) first gentle remove this layer of epoxy, you will see is not hard, but is messy-dirty. Until I not clean at least 80% epoxy from board or chip (then clean chip-board and put new flux) I not work with solder wick wire.

How do you then remove rest of the solder on the pins of the chip ant the board if not with wick wire?

You are not well understood, before I got epoxy not use wire as it just gets stuck, first take off the epoxy to at least 80% then you just use it well wire.

Nisi dobro razumio, dok ne skinem enaj epoxy ne koristim žicu, jer samo zapinje, prvo skineš epoxy do barem 80% onda tek upotrebiš žicu.

Yes, ok. I now see, i missed the "until"

IN the meantime i tried to remove that epoxy by heating it with hot air, and removing it with knife, but i overheated it (the chip has bubbles )

Lenovo Thinkpad L540 - name of the I/O chip that control fan and sensors?
                  by insomniacno1
                  Hi,

Anyone here know the name and model number of the Super I/O chip in the L540 20AU (HM86 EXPRESS CHIPSET)?

I need the information to solve an issue in Linux Mint, where fan is not detected correctly.

If anyone know the exact name of the sensor that show fan speed it would also be great.

I tried looking on my motherboard but can't see it without taking the laptop apart and I really don't want to do that. I asked Lenovo, but they are not answering. I searched google for photos of the motherboard but they were too blurry to read anything, according...

Lenovo laptop does not turn on, what does this number mean in a BIOS chip?

Hello, first of all, excuse me, I am using the translator, English is not my native language.

                  I have a Lenovo ideapad 330S - 14IKB laptop.

The tablet did not recognize me when I connected it, so I checked the device manager and I realized that there were many with the exclamation mark, so one by one I began to update their drivers until the sign disappeared of admiration, I even updated the BIOS, and the laptop rebooted normally and worked, so far so good, but the tablet still did not recognize me, I read on the internet that it could be due to a...
