    toshiba satellite l515-s4960 lcd issues

hey guys working on this for a very good friend. he bought this computer and within 6 mos the display would work when it wanted and got worse over time..

it has been sitting on a shelf for about a year now..

with me checking it im not getting a backlight at all and i have "unsynced" video(lines) when i shine a flashlight on the display. this unit seems very flimsy, gently flexing the display half of the computer will make the lines go away and come back etc but i can never get a synced picture.

i am thinking display failure but wondering if you think so, and is this a common issue with this model?

again its a toshibe satellite l515-s4960

mabye i should pull it apart to make surte the ribbon cable isnt loose or something stupid. will also be checking to see if it works with an external display shortly.

ok i have fixed the internal lcd issue. the ribbon cable that goes to the monitor connects under the keyboard. the connector was 75% off. reseated and the internal monitor is working again..

windows is still the same. A friend made me a disc to convert back to xp but i cant even get that to boot... i believe the hard drive got cashed out with this dude banging on it to make the monitor work etc

        wow dude needs anger management.

when you say the xp disc won't boot do you mean after you load it on the HD or just won't boot in the internal drive? if it's the latter do you have access to a usb dvd drive maybe to give that a shot?
