I'm working on a Dell Latitude 5490 with a LA-F401P motherboard that has a very peculiar issue, and I would appreciate your insights.
Initial Problem:
The laptop was completely dead, no signs of life, no power LED.
Action Taken:
I flashed the main BIOS chip with a clean dump. This brought the machine back to life, but with a strange limitation.
Current Situation & The Main Issue:
The laptop now works perfectly when powered through the USB-C port. It charges the battery, powers on, boots into the OS, and functions 100% correctly.... -
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?
My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m learning by trial and error.
I’m currently working on a Dell Optiplex AIO 7490—one of a bunch of AIOs that mysteriously failed to POST just a few days after the warranty expired. The original issue was that the PC worked fine until it was rebooted, after which it got stuck on a black screen (no backlight), with fans spinning at normal speed and a solid white power LED. Following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/co...g_and_flashing) i re-flashed my t480s BIOS using an external (CH341A) programmer. The flash didnt work, so i reverted back to my BIOS backup successfully. The BIOS in the chip and the BIOS backup file are identical according to windows' file compare. The revert, however, didnt work: the only thing the computer does is flash the power button 3 times when AC power is connected. I've tried unplugging the CMOS battery, holding the reset button and holding down the power button- no signs of life.... -
looking for a fully extracted (by programmer) Bios for a Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) v.1.09 or newer, so I can compare it with my own bios to check for corruption.
