can anyone help me identify what component is missing ? Unable to source schematics and board view

Check both pad's resistance to GND in diode mode. If one of the pads beeps to GND, then very likely its a capacitor. Else it could be a resistor. Another probability is there is no component soldered from factory.

Thank you for your reply, the component removed was charred and I couldn’t identify it. The unit powers on and works however the battery is not detected. The user installed the battery in reverse.

I think it might have been a diode however I couldn’t identify.
