Hi guys i have a hp omen quanta board DAG3ABMBCD0 the dc jack middle pin is broken i could not find a power jack so i cut an hp charging block from another hp and connected them together. i get power allover the board but no light and it does not power on when i press the on button. any help would be appreciated.

It is normal because the adapter is not recognised the laptop will not power up if the laptop can not recognised the charger.

how can i fix this i cant find the pinouts for the charging block.

HP power connectors will feature:

DCIN power - often will use multiple contacts to support the higher current and on the connector will be a larger piece of metal.

Ground pin(s).

Power Adapter ID pin - often the thin needle contact which will provide for an analog voltage that the EC IC on the board will sample to gauge the power adapter's power rating. The voltage on this pin is critical so be sure the voltage is not too high nor too low. If it is too high, the EC IC can be damaged. If it is too low, the EC will consider the adapter to be too weak to power the board and/or charge the battery while the logic board is being powered.

White and amber LED wires too.
But I don't like the idea of a quick and dirty fix of a cheap power connector on a gaming laptop with an expensive motherboard…

I asked the guy if he can wait he is in need of his laptop for a seminar here he is from Botswana and he cant find anyone to help him there. the part will take six weeks to get to me from hong kong no local supplier. i dont usually do this but he is desperate. i have that extra grey wire where must i be connected to be read.

I guess this is late, but it might help someone else with this kind of fail, on some HP gaming laptops, the ones that uses a 200w adapter you might need to connect a 100k resistor from +VA (19v) to the ID line. This also works if you have a regular power supply and can't turn it on with it (160mA and then drops).

If the middle pinof dc jack touched the main power rail,then SIO needs to be replaced first.
