    Macbook 2017 820-00840-A Damaged

    Hey all,

I was in the middle of upgrading my SSD on my MacBook when I accidentally let my screw driver slip and it scraped against the board and broke off two tiny components.

I've attached a picture of the board. Would anyone know what the two dots that I circled are?

    Thank you!

    Attached.

These are emi filter caps - they will not be missed and will not stop the board from functioning. Perhaps will radiate a bit of interference if you are listing to your favorite AM radio stations.

That’s great news! Thank you so much.
Do I need to add solder to reconnect where the EMI filters were located, or is it alright to just leave it alone?

      Thanks!

Leave open as-is. That is, the parts will not be present to bridge the exposed solder pads. If the parts were present, they will reduce some electromagnetic interference for over the air tv and radio. Not required for operation.
