    Acer Nitro 5 (FH52M LA-J891P) no power

    Hi all,

I have an Acer Nitro that came in with no power. Under a thermal camera, I could immediately see the ACFET cycling on and off.

The gate voltage was fluctuating below 1v. I then replaced PQB13 (charge controller IC) but it was still the same.

At this point I noticed the signal back to the ACFET was shorted to GND. It turned out the entire 19v rail read ~3ohms.

I eventually traced it to the GPU power rail. If I remove the coils ahead of the GPU 1.35v rail, the short is isolated to the GPU region and the ACFET gets a full 25v at the gate.

My question now is, is there anything else I can do here to chase this, or is it probably just a bad core? I'm new, so bear with me if this turns out to be something super obvious. I'm making this up as I go lol

    Thank you!

it's propably "just" a bad Core and likely all VRAM chips are gone, yes. What is the resistance to GND of the +1.35VSDGPU after lifting the coils?

Looking at 2.6Ω at the coils GPU-side. If I put those coils back, I get ~3Ω everywhere connected to +19VB

Solved. It was one of the GPU MOSFETS. It was dead shorted internally.
