Advice needed please Lenovo Ideapad 5

Hi,

I have the following laptop that has died. There was a short as you can see in the pics. I am still a noob so if someone could advise whether they think this is repairable and what that IC is that is burnt as i cant make it out completely. I think there is also a Cap or something missing from "LG11" thanks for any help or advice.

The main problem right now is, if you have to ask questions like this, although everything which is necessary was already shared then you probably can't mange the repair attempt, regardless the assistance of anyone here.

schematics was shared, so it should be clear what replacements you have to source after you made sure, the load side is fine and no further damage was done to the board. So where are we stuck right now?

Thanks for your message. I am still learning but I have managed to do a few short repairs myself as well as with help from the forum.

One of the issues I'm having is identifying the chip with the hole burnt in it as I can't see the markings to read it as well as what its function is? Sorry I'm sure these are very obvious questions, I'm just trying to use whatever sources of info at my disposal to try and learn.

A short look into the schematics clarifies this immediately, at least till some extent.

PLG11 is a simple ferrite bead. Unfortunately the schematics is not helpful with the exact specifications here but it is the same component as PLZ1 and PLZ2 for example. A Workarounds could be to solder a random ferrite bead from the main power rail of another motherboard, or in worst case just a wire as ultima ratio.

The IC is the easiest part. It is a MP2941BGL-Z.

Just be aware of if a IC with integrated high-side dies around the CPU, or in this case the PCH, usually these BGA turns out to be dead in most of the cases.
