Hi Everyone, have a strange one here, I've an Acer Chromebook that will not charge off the mains adapter, however if the battery is fully drained it will charge off a usb 3 or a 5v mobile adapter. The power adapter also will not power the chromebook with the battery discharged or with the internal battery disconnected. If for any reason the charge cable is disconnected from the 5v source it will not charge until the battery is fully discharged again!

The solid orange charge light will only come on if its charging from the 5v source after the battery has been drained, otherwise when I actually get in to the OS if briefly flashes orange then goes out. I hope this makes sense.

I have tried all the recommened fixes like disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds etc.

Hi. Are you using the original and recommended power adapter to power the unit?

Does the laptop work with the original power adapter?

Hi, I believe its a replacement for the original from the information given to me by the customer.The device does not work at all with the AC power supply.
