    Acer Aspire 3 Blue screen of death.

    Hi, I have got a Acer Aspire 3 laptop that won't boot properly. I keep getting the below stop codes;

    IRQL_NOT_GREATER_OR_EQUAL

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

    'DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL'

    I have tried to install a fresh windows 10 home but it crashes before it can finish it's full install. I have also cleaned the RAM slot. Tried an external drive HDD with windows 10 home installed via USB and still the same issue. Also tried resetting the laptop via windows but still the same thing.

    Has anyone got any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

      You have a bad device driver being deployed in the installation. Start with the latest bios for your machine. Then try again. Have you attempted to install windows 11?

        I haven't checked the memory, how do I check the memory?

        I haven't tried installing windows 11, That's something I didn't think of. I can just download windows 11 through the Windows media creation tool again can't I? Also what if that doesn't rectify the issue?

              Either by testing on another laptop or try with another ram/ssd.

                I have tried taking the SSD out and booting from a external HDD connected via USB. Again still the same issue. RAM wise I haven't got a spare to check with.

                  Use MemTest86 to test the memory. It's part of the Hiren boot disc or available as a standalone download.

                    I think it could be a RAM fault as I have formatted the SSD and tried installing Windows 11 but it still crashes with the driver error. So the last thing it being me to is the RAM. Anyone got any other thoughts on this?

                    I have now ordered a new RAM 4GB RAM module so hopefully this will sort this issue out and then I can reinstall Windows 11.

                      In my experience, when you get random BSOD stop codes, RAM is usually the first suspect. I don't even bother testing it. If in doubt, rip it out.
