Good morning, I have an HP ZBook 15 G3 which will not turn off. When I shut it down from windows, the screen and power LED turns off but WLAN and Speaker LED‘s are still on and the GPU Fan goes on full speed. This is on battery only. If I plug in the AC Adapter or also with battery and shut it down the ZBook stays off but the wlan and speaker led‘s stays on. Can someone help me?

Re: HP ZBook 15 G3 won‘t turn off
Link or post the schematic.
Review the voltage rail that powers the LAN / WLAN.
Perhaps you have wake on lan setting active? For this the to work, that controller needs to be powered.
Are you able to enter and exit the bios? Power down is normal?
If on power adapter only, remove the battery, same issue?
Perhaps some mosfet is leaking and keeping the logic board powered but schematic will help. We need to know at least the charger IC onboard. Likely the 'BQ' series from Texas Instruments.

Re: HP ZBook 15 G3 won‘t turn off
Sorry, I have no Schematic for the ZBook. I can go into Bios and will check if this setting is enalbled or not.
On AC Adapter or on AC Adapter and with battery it shut down completely except the WLAN and Speaker LED‘s are on.
There was another Thread but for ZBook 15 G2. There it was the DC DC Converter. Could that also be the issue?

OMG that is a good & clear pictureRecently ordered a 4k microscope - ETA is next week sometime.
No, we do not want to replace this part but only want to check the voltages linked to this charger IC.
Now that we know the charger IC #, we can use reference designs / schematics or even the factory datasheet (if public) from Texas Instruments (TI). TI acquired the BenchmarQ group that designed this IC. That is why it has the 'BQ' marking.
Will post more details after a late lunch break.

Re: HP ZBook 15 G3 won‘t turn off
I'll start with removing the wifi card and then desoldering the sound chip. this problem has nothing to do with charging chip in my opinion. If problem persists after these steps, Look for dc-dc converter. the Enable for DC-DC conversion is perhaps not removed even after shutdown and that may be due to a broken dc-dc converter. So take the following steps in sequence.
01.Remove wifi card
02.De-solder sound chip
03.De solder lan chip
04.Clean install windows
05.Probe dc-dc conversion for 3V/5V.

Re: HP ZBook 15 G3 won‘t turn off
Look for an IC with 7 pins on each side i.e total 14 pins. Since Scheme not avlbl, i cant confirm the part number but google TPS22966 to get a image of the likely target ic. Dc-DC conversion circuit is designed in many ways and differs between boards. With newer boards, usually this ic is 14 pins.
