Fanatec CSL Elite Wheelbase - USB B Port Repair

Fixing a usb b port that was damaged and some of the traces were pulled off. Trying to sort out where to run jump wires. There's an USBLC6-2SC6 ESD directly behind the port, datasheet here.

Looking at what's left of the traces it seems like pin 1 on the USB port should go to pin 5 of the ESD chip, and pin 2 of USB should go to pin 1 of ESD, pin 3 of USB should go to pin 2 of ESD, and pin 4 of USB should go to pin 3 of ESD.

Is that correct? Brain not working....

      Re: USB B Port Repair

      Hi. See attached.

      1) Start with reviewing if the TVS ESD device is following the recommended PCB layout from ST Electronics. Most likely it will be.

Check with your multimeter in resistance mode (2k scale). NO power to the logic board. Check if the pin # 1 is indeed D+in and goes to D+out on pin # 6 as per attachment.

The L400 component right behind this ESD TVS diode array is an EMI filter.

It will have 4 pads (2 close to this ESD TVS diode array & 2 pads away from the same part). This EMI filter is a coil to remove electromagnetic interference while passing through the high speed data traffic signals.

One of the 2 pads will be the D+ line from the USB connector. The other of the 2 pads will be the D- line.

You can use this for guidance. Once you have this sorted out, then will follow the Vbus line and finally the ground connection.

Draw up a diagram and post it is here to move forward.

(PS: We design USB products for the PC industry and use similar parts in our product designs)

Sorry for the poor thread title, not sure how I can rename it.
The device is a Fanatec CSL Elite Wheelbase.

Re: Fanatec CSL Elite Wheelbase - USB B Port Repair

Yes, agreed. Just confirm that on the ESD device (UL26), the location for the ground matches for your PCB layout.

That is, ground on the ESD device = mates with ground on the rest of the board.

Respectively, you have confirmed the position of +5V for this USB connector on the same ESD device.

Otherwise, wire up as you have shared.

            See attachment (from another website).

Sorry for digging old post but im also trying to repair same PCB that is missing component which got missing.
I couldnt find any replacement PCB, so my only option is to repair.
Luckly, I found one image (only one) that shows bit of components so that will help me to determine what components im missing.

                1. What is the chip above UL26 (IC400) (marked L400) with 4 lags.
                2. CC401 seems to be capacitor but which size capacitor should I use? Can i just extract similar 0805 capacitor and use it?
                3. CR104 seems to be 104 resistor 0805 size?
                4. CR902 seems to be 152 resistor 0805 size?
                5. What is the chip for D900 with 3 lags?

Im planning to buy all the missing parts from aliexpress.

                Thanks!

                  Did some further analysis.

                  CC401 - 0603 100NF 50V X7R (not sure but guessing since its USB related)
                  IC400 - SOT23 USBLC6 UL26 (pretty sure)
L400 - 0805 2 line common mode choke filter (not sure what ohm should I get)
                  CR104 - 0805 100k
                  CR902 - 0805 1.5k
D900 - I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT IS

                  Someone please correct me.

                  Thank you!

I was lucky enough to find D900 that fell off.
It says "A4" on the component.

Wit that info, i found chip on aliexpress.
                    BAV70 A4 0.2A 70V SOT-23

for L400 with help of chatgpt, i ordered
0805 90ohm common mode chokes filters

                    Hopefully everything works...

                      Hi,

I have this board, where I have exchanged the LGA1151 socket. During testing I discovered, that the large PCIEX16 slot won't by no force work in x16 mode, but keeps to work in x8 mode only.
I tested this with GPU-Z, also with Render Test (but tried also Furmark and Heaven Benchmark - no effect).
Tested on Core i5-9600K as well as on an Pentium G5420 and MSI NVIDIA GTX1070 and 2 other cards, including RTX3060Ti.
Board architecture definitely allows x16 mode, as all 16 PCIe lanes are present between CPU and main GPU slot (nearest to CPU).
