Lenovo M72E IH61M Type 3578

Have a M72E Thinkcentre brought in today. No POST, and fans just run at high speed so looks like a corrupted BIOS and/or ME.

Machine type is 3578. Motherboard is IH61M Ver 4.2. There's two SPI ROM's, one is 16M (with 2M flash) and the other is 32M (with 4M flash). Just a bit confused with all the variants for this model. Original dumps attached.

Not sure these are right for this system as they're a 4MB and 8MB dump. This system is using 2MB and 4MB only.

Thanks but this board is a IH61M, not IH61I.

Old machine, replacement cost isn't that high for another chassis so if nothing comes along soon, I'll be dumping this repair.

Here you go,try these,flash both of them.Bios version F1K74A + DMI.
The old bios version was F1KT46A

Power on the unit, press the F1 Fn-key to enter the BIOS Setup
Refer to the image below, if the BIOS Revision Level indicates:
F1KTxxA, then it is a IVY system
F9KTxxA, then it is a PCI system
F4KTxxA, then it is a Tiny system
xx indicates the actual BIOS level, such as F1KT16A).

Many thanks SMDflea. Still the same result with the donor so I'm assuming a board issue. I put on a thermal camera and noted that U10 and U17 have heat spots. Will follow this up with the schematic.

U17 is RAM supply, and I have 1.5V on the output so that seems ok. U10 supplies +VCC_SA, which is 0V. I did try another CPU, so it does seem that is the culprit.

It's a NCP102SNT1G, given the time delay in getting them, along with the age of this device, not sure it's worth trying. I have no donor boards for this model unfortunately.

Well I did supply another machine in the meantime. But I did order that IC off Aliexpress and it only just arrived! Fitted it, and machine works fine with original BIOS. So U10 was indeed the culprit after all.
