by tckoo1411Bought an iMac 27inch 2009 core 2 duo version. Cannot power on when I first got it. So I dismantled it and check. Switch on the mains and the led 1 lights up, tried to power on, doesn't respond. So I was checking things out seeing if the connectors are in place. found the ODD fan wires loose, so I took it out and clean it up. Forgot to plug it back in and turn on the iMac. Saw the MOSFET D5600 smoking. Would like to seek for expert's help here, what could have caused the MOSFET to burn. What component should I buy to replace. Please refer to the attached picture....01-03-2022, 07:39 PM

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-
