    Asus Strix X99 Gaming

hi guys I have the following motherboard. Asus Strix X99 Gaming

I went to power on the computer today and its as if the motherboard is dead.

I get a brief debug code of 00 then the PSU clicks off.

and it continues until I unplug the PSU.

ive reset the CMOS done a bios flashback and so far the issues persists.

ive notice tho that on the Motherboard PU501 is very hot even with just the PSU turned on and the motherboard showing the standby lights.

any ideas where I can go with this ?

    thanks for any help.

p.s I have the board view files but not the schematic for this.

From bahaviour looks like a broken/shorted PWM controller, missing some internal power supply. Power sequence cannot be completed. The hot pwm controller (PU501) confirms this. Must be replaced. After taking off the chip first to be checked whether there is no short on pwm output, shorted cap, etc., if no a new pwm can be soldered. After repair first start the board without CPU, and measure if all powers are correct. After this is sure test board with cpu. If board does not start w/o cpu short sococc (socket occupied) signal at SIO.

I could do it in Poland, but you would have to sent the board to me. Probably better you find somebody with repair experience and a hotair station in the UK. And UK isn't any more in the EU, so could be an issue with customs.

I can confirm there is no short with the PU501 removed from the mainboard.

would you say replacing it should solve the issue ?
