    Asus X99-PRO is not posting

    Hi

I bought a faulty ASUS X99-PRO with an i7-5820K. I tested the CPU in another motherboard, and it's working fine. The motherboard had a short circuit, but I found the source of it using this forum. It was the Richtek RT8065ZQW DC/DC converter. Now the board doesn't turn off instantly when powered on, but the Q-CODE display shows an error code 00, and the fans spin on both the GPU and CPU cooler. When I install memory in the D1 and B1 slots, the speaker beeps with 1 long beep and 2 short beeps, indicating a memory problem. When I place a memory stick in any of the other slots, the motherboard doesn't beep, but the CPU LED flashes every 3-4 seconds. Each time the CPU LED flashes, the fan RPM increases slightly for a second.

I tried flashing the BIOS with a TL886, but the same problem persists.

I gladly welcome any ideas and tips on what the problem could be. Thank you in advance for the help!

I'm attaching the BIOS dump in case it might be useful.

I have the exact same problem on an ASUS X99-A and X99 Deluxe. They display no Q-codes, but the board is obviously going through the POST sequence to an extent since, as you mentioned, it beeps the proper codes for no RAM. I had a similar problem on another board that was due to a broken off resistor that supplied a clock signal to the super IO, so I suspect the same issue is at play here, but I don't have an oscilloscope to check signals. My UT61E multimeter has a Hz function, but I don't trust it. The SIO and clock gen chip should be checked.

PS: There is unique data stored in the bios for each ASUS board that you will need to extract with the FD44 editor and add to the new bios if you use an external programmer.
