Lightform LFC mini PC,Blown Component - Need help identifying or Next Steps

Hi gang, I have 2 of these Lightform LFC mini PC's, and both suffered a blown component near the 12V power input. Im assuming its a voltage regulator,
But Im unable to identify the component or its marking. (The best I can make out is M48i)

Can anyone help me clarify what this component maybe? or what would be the next troubleshooting or logical step to try next? Schematic is unavailable

I removed the IC for better clarity of traces

    Hello!

I know this is rather old, but I just saw it recently.

I have one of these little toys, and opened it up to check.

    The marking is "MZ81".

It's a bit difficult to get voltage readings on the pins, but in Standby I get

    1.12V 0V

    12.35V 12.35V

    12.35V 12.35V

    The AC adapter measured 12.35V...
