    P5AD2-e Premium

Bought this mobo back in 05 off e-bay.

Replaced it with P5Q Pro turbo after no post about 15 months ago. Then got interested in badcaps when I recapped a power supply for a samsung monitor.

Since the mobo was still lying around, I checked for badcaps and for sure I found them, about ten of them.

What would be your recommendations guys? I won't recap it myself since I don't have the time patience and tools. If someone here would give an approximate price on poly-capping this motherboard, maybe I'll send it out.

    Thanks for reviewing...

    Pictures for above post:

1 in this pic, the red circles the ones that are bulging, the green I removed the heatsinks to inspect the chips, the blue I don't remember if I removed it.

2 in this pic, these caps don't resemble another pic I saw on another post of same board I found here. Maybe they where replaced at one point. from e-bay remember?

I notice you have a mix of Panasonic, OST, and UCC.

OST replace all of them, except for the smallest ones, unless you're really good with an iron. Panasonic stay, unless they're bulged. UCC KZG replace with Nichicon HM (New stock only), Rubycon MBC, or Samxon GD.

Your pictures are taking too long to load, otherwise I would be more thorough. Can you upload them elsewhere? The forum's picture attachment feature has become very very slow after the last upgrade.

I tried looking at different pictures from other places, but Asus used different caps for different batches which is their norm.

They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

I see a combination of Ltec, possible Teapo, OST, and UCC KZG. Those small ventless caps around the CPU, what are they?

You have there between 20 -30 caps there you need to replace. Your pics are a little blurry, but if you can catalog and list them here in the following format:

            VOLTAGE/uF/DIAMETER (in mm WxH)/Company/Series
            I'll give you an example:
            16v 1000uF 8x16mm United Chemicon "KZG"

Then I can tell you what to replace them with. The small cluster at the top left are OK, you don't need to touch those, but about every other cap on the board (Quite possibly even the ones surrounding the CPU) need to be replaced. Not just the ones that have bulged.

I don't think this board is worth repairing personally. This doesn't even support Pentium-D. Only Pentium 4 and Celeron-D socket 775.

              See this:

              https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11858

Shield logo cap is UCC. They're KZG and need to be replaced.

              Panasonic FL's (polymer) around CPU.
              [M] logo = Matsushita/Panasonic (M) = 20% tolerance. Easy to confuse.

Put the bloody cover on the CPU socket before it gets FUBAR'd.
( or at least make one)
