I picked up three different revisions of the SD2008 (one with a fan, one without and a different component layout and a third which is the same as the last but with a smaller crystal).
They all had to be recapped and I sourced new 12V 1A wall warts fro them and for the one with the fan, I took the fan out and stuck heatsinks on the two chips (the fan was dead anyways).
The one thing I have noticed however is that they all run REALLY hot. I'm not sure if this is normal or if something's up and I have not really tested the units under load yet. I'm especially worried for the early rev unit I stuck heatsinks on. I'm not sure if they will keep the system alive.
Anyone have experience on these little things? They are remarkably slick.
The other thing about the old unit that had the fan is that the caps are getting hot.
Yes, I replaced them with caps of the same value and yes I installed them in the right direction.
