I had lines all over a Proview monitor with bad caps in the PSU.
I've had white screen when the cable wasn't plugged in correctly for the LCD.

Psu is fine ,theres only one connector under mainboard that fits into the panel and that is seated so not sure what to check next ..The psu is an external one .

The caps on the input board could be bad - seen that before. It was preventing a monitor with an external power brick from powering on.
Do you have an ESR meter?

Can you measure the voltage across all of the caps?

Yes i have micro ver 4 esr meter ..psu is defo fine as i have tested it .. are you referring to caps on the input board for faliure and voltage across ?

Thanks,trouble is i cannot get to the underside of input board to get at the caps to test for voltage when attached to panel and mainboard attaches directly underneath via a connector ..i could remove caps and test for esr but i feel theres somethink more than just the caps..i could be wrong though.

It wouldn't hurt to take them out - even if you put them back in, you've made sure those solder joints are good.

I managed to find mine in circuit.

I think I'll have a go in-circuit first and if i have any back circuit probs i'll take them out.

Took caps out of input board and all were good when tested with esr meter also re soldered inductors etc just in case but still same..any ideas anyone?

Here are 2 pics with panel apart ..Now in pic 1 i have circled the TCP(if thats the right word) now looking at it ,it justs seems to sit on the panel as shown in pic 2 .

should this TCP actually be like that as i would have thought it should attach somewhere ? There is only a thin metal cover that goes over the panel and rests on the TCP ..The top part of the TCP not arrowed to the left in pick 1 does actually attach to the panel and board but not the one i have arrowed ,i would have thought that this should attach some where ..Are the areas i have arrowed supposed to be like this when replaced on panel ? (meaning just sat there or could this be the cause of the fault )
