    Samsung 172n

Hi all. I've been lurking this forum for a bit. I replaced caps on a Samsung 172n PCB board. A few of the caps were bad, so I decided to replace them all. I made a big mistake, though. I saw that two of the five brown caps were labeled capxon1000u 10v and figured that all of them were the same. Now I see that a couple of them are labeled 470u 25v. Would anyone know which sections use which caps?

    So far I think:

    c551 uses the 1000uF ?

the one below it c551??? uses 470uF ?

    c662 uses 470uF?

    I can't figure what c665 nor what c552 use.

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS... also need to know what kind of disk capacitor is the green one on TH110.

Well I can't help you with the caps, but I can tell you that TH110 is most likely a thermistor. If it's part of the input filter (between the mains socket and the diode bridge) then it definitely is, and is used to limit the inrush current. It is a NTC thermistor (Negative Temperature Coefficient), which means that as it heats up, it's resistance goes down. When you first plug it in, the large input cap would try to fill almost instantly, and this can draw 10's of amps in some cases, blowing circuit breakers and/or fuses. This thermistor limits the amount of current that can rush in at the beginning like this, but once it's been on for a while and has heated up, has a very low resistance.

Pictures of the board will help, one of the top and one of the bottom might help somebody who doesn't have the board help you.

Yes. I have pictures of it. 665,662 & the other one near them, close to the connector to the VBoard all are 470uf

In this picture, the three caps at the left are 470uf and teh two at the right are 1000uf. This pic has all capXon, and was taken before all of them were replaced.
As for the "green disc", if it is the one in the 2nd picture, it is indeed a thermistor.

Thanks for the info but Im confused. I did not remove the bottom one from the pair and it is a 470uF.The top one that I removed is a 1000uF as confirmed by your pics. There are two 470's and two 1000's that I have... I only removed 4 of them. That means that the trio near the video board must be mixed.

Would you know what kind of thermistor, or equivalent, is used? I think SCK 2R55A is the number printed on it.

Ok, your pics helped out big time. Through your pics and deductive reasoning, I've concluded that the pair is one 1000uF and one 470uF. The three other ones are as follows: the two to the left are 470 and the one on the right on top of the connector is a 1000uF. Now I just need to find a retailer who sells an equivalent for that thermistor.
