Samsung T240HD Screen Fading Flickering Issue

I'm unsure if this issue is truly a caps issue, but I'm hoping that someone might be able to at least point me in the right direction. I have a Samsung T240HD, and the monitor/tv has started to buzz very loudly, as well as fade and flicker. I can also smell something slightly burning at times. This will happen on any input, even if there's no input connected. But the issue is intermittent, there's times when the tv will work ok for 10 minutes and go nuts again.

Here's a video of the issues that I'm seeing (apologies for the cell phone quality, but it will show the issue):
    http://youtu.be/ARmHywbBMZ4

And here's some pictures of the boards:

I don't see any caps that are bulging. There is one resistor that seems to be burnt a bit on top, but I'm not sure if that's an issue. This is all pretty new to me. The monitor just ran out of warranty, so I'd rather see if I can fix it myself before going another route.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Samsung T240HD Screen Fading Flickering Issue

The Samwha XC caps on your board are known bad caps and are common failures, and they don't always bulge. The symptoms your display has are common with bad caps or an intermittent connection.

However the arcing/buzzing sound seems more like a CCFL tube wire has come loose or is dodgy and for some reason it isn't shutting the monitor down.

Not sure how I missed it when I first opened it, but I see the wire issues now that you were talking about. Nasty stuff.

What's the best method for repairing those? And is it possible to get the metal backing off to get into where the wires go?

Lastly any good tutorial/vidoes showing how to replace the caps in a Samsung monitor?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Re: Samsung T240HD Screen Fading Flickering Issue

I have found the exact same issue with my Samsung T240.
        (SEE ATTACHMENT)
I have removed the power board (Model # IP-58155A )
Did you just replace your power board? Did you replace the wires? What solutions did you come up with? Or do you even still have this TV?
        Thanks

Samsung Series 9 - BIOS issue
          by Kjell
After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).

Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...

Samsung DM32D – Red LED blinks 5 times, won’t start (possible mainboard issue)
          by Nairolf
          Hello,

          I have a Samsung DM32D display.
When I try to power it on, the red LED blinks 5 times and nothing happens—the unit won’t start.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
          1. Disconnected the cable between the mainboard and the power supply → the backlight turns on.
          2. Disconnected the main T-CON ribbon cable → same issue as before, the LED still blinks 5 times.
          3. Disconnected one of the two T-CON ribbons to the panel (tested each one separately) → same issue, the LED blinks 5 times.

From these tests, I suspect the problem might be on the mainboard. Could anyone...

Samsung TV LA46B550K1R flickering issue, so near yet so far
          by Indie
          Hi,

I have a samsung tv (2009, works well) apart from an imminent flickering issue for some time.

          Model: LA46B550K1R
          Model code : LA46B550K1RLXL
          Ac:100-260 V 50-60Hz, 240W
          Power supply circuit: BN44-00265B

I read through the forums and found other Samsung models both 46, 55 inches , old and new with similar issues. Two things stood out:
          1. eco setting in tv was recommended to be switched off
          2. Jumper number JP852 was recommended to be cut off.

Now before opening the tv i tried playing around with the...

Samsung SyncMaster 740n Phase Control Issue
          by vincentedel
          Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...
