    Samsung 940BX Help

A few quick questions for the regular/experts:

symptom: blue power light on but no backlight.. sometimes monitor comes on but gets noticably longer between intervals

took it apart and the monitor has a BN44-00123A power board

visual inspection shows one of the 4 Samxon 1000uF caps is bulging

Question is will a BN44-00123E board be a direct replacement?

I do plan on changing the 4 caps... but just in case will the "E" revision board work Ok in this model

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

I don't know if "E" will work since manufacturers make revisions for a reason, but changing 4 caps on your "A" board should be fairly easy if you have done any soldering before.

If the Samxon caps are labeled GF, they are a problematic series. Use something like Panasonic FR or FM series for replacements.

Assuming they are 16V 1000uF caps and the dimensions fit (height and diameter), these Panasonic FR would be a good replacement.

Also, don't overlook the other caps like the small startup cap. Little caps don't have to bloat in order to be bad. In fact, most of them don't bloat when bad.

Replaced the 4 1000uf caps and monitor is back in action ......Thanks!

This 940BX uses a older power supply board normally found in a 940BW
