    eMachines E19T5W problem.

Hi, everyone I've been reading post on here for a while now, but never joined. So I thought it was time to.

I have an eMachines E19T5W that the blue power led stays lit for about a second then goes off, and the screen stays blank. The power cord has to be unplugged for a while for it to come back on.

When the monitor was first given to me it would come on for probably 10 to 15 minutes then go off, but it would also have to be unplugged for a while for it to come back on. I re-soldered the ac plug and it seemed to help but months later when it got hot in the room it would go off again. So it became my cold weather monitor. lol

The thing with no power after a second started months ago, so I recapped the power board and the control board. It came on for maybe 5 seconds and displayed on the screen and went blank. Now the same thing again, if I unplugged the video cable from the back of the lcd screen, then plug in the power cable, the blue led stays lit and the back lights come on and stay lit.

    Things I've tried.

    1. Replaced solder on AC port.

    2. Completely recapped control and power board. ( using Nichicon caps)

    3. Re-heated solder on the transformers and other random places on the power board.

This thing has me stumped! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are a few points that require clarification.

    1. Which series of Nichicon caps did you use?

2, Did the 'complete recap' include the small (<100uF) caps around the SMPS controller?

    3. Have you checked the voltages on the output of the power supply?

    4. The symptoms seem to indicate a thermal problem. Pictures of the top of the signal card (what you call the control board), and top and bottom of the power supply would be useful. For best results we need at least 1000 x 1000 pixels (but no greater than 2000), well lit, and in focus. Ideally we should be able to read the component designators. Attach them to your next post using 'Manage Attachments' - below the text entry area.
