Samsung syncmaster 42" on and off!!!

    Hi there,

I've had this tv for 2 years now(which means WARRANTY OUT!!!), working fine and all of a sudden, the tv just keeps switching ON and OFF once in a while with a clicking sound There is no particular time as it happens...

I do know a little bit about TV (INSIDE) so any help would be really appreciated as I would like to have it fixed ASAP.

I know there are a lot of experts in here, so please direct me!!!!

    Much appreciated

    1) A model number would help.

    2) See this post by PlainBill and how he wants pictures starting with "Note the links"

    3) Please use the manage attachments to upload your pictures and see my sig file below how to attach pics and do's and don'ts.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Clicking relay is a very common fault with Samsungs, usually bad caps.
Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Samsungs always have 3-4 bad caps on the power board after 2-3 years. Usually the TV starts to take longer and longer to turn on then it starts with the clicking. Lay the TV face down on your bed so you don't scratch it and take a look at the power board. There are a few YouTube videos and tutorials online if you need help. Leave the TV unplugged for 30 min or so before taking it apart and just to be safe don't touch anything on the primary side of the power board. There is usually a clear line on the board, one side with 2 big capacitors and one side with a few small 25 or 16v ones that will be bulging.
