    Computer Killing monitors ?

sorry guys im a noob here in regards to these forums but i stubled across this site searching the net for answers and i love the site great work here ... I dont know if this is the proper place to post this but reading through post i came to the conclusion that you all are considerably smarter then i am so i will ask you... Is it possible for a computer to be sending out a signal that will kill an LCD monitor.. I am a computer technician and i have never run into this problem before but a customer of mine swears his computer is killing his monitors and he brung me 2 of them to prove it.. Its an older medion model PC MT6 with onboard graphics made by sis.. i have connected this computer to my work LCD and have let it run without any problems as of yet 5hrs.. he says it has blown 5 monitors in a year!? .. I have 2 of them a BenQ Q7t4 and a Medion MD41077EA and they both seem to have sorta the same problems..
the BenQ turns on to white screen and thats it.. if connected to pc it stays white but has like vertical lines running through it no menu or anything will come up .. The Medion will only power on for 1 sec still black screen though then go off but every once in a while if i flick the power switch on and off it goes to white screen for a sec then off.. I Know my way around Computer hardware but LCD Repair is all new to me.. I took the BENQ apart just to look around and see if anything looked bad on the board. it has a couple dark spots and from the looks of it 2 bulging caps.. i dont have my camera on hand or i would take a pic... i cant see anything wrong with the solder points on this board.. Is it possible that the graphics card is killing these things ? R they worth repairing or can they be reapired.. If you need anything further i can get it for you just ask..

A computer can't kill a monitor, but a computer can outlive several crappy monitors. Benq fits that description. The standard fix for Benq and Benq-built monitors (HP, Dell) is to replace all the electrolytic caps (with the exception of the large 100uF, 450 volt one), check for shorted driver transistors at the inverters, and resolder the inverter transformers. Note my signature for links.

While I agree the second scenario is far more likely than the first, there are environmental scenarios where a computer could appear to be blowing out displays. For instance, if the computer is plugged into a circuit shared with a motor, and the computer's PS is able to withstand the resulting spikes but the display's PS rapidly succumbs to them.

While it's possible for a VGA chip to go bad and send out destructive signals, I have yet to see it. The way to figure out what is happening is to fix the monitors. Monitors with power supply, inverter, backlight, or bad caps were not damaged by the computer. A pattern of monitors with damaged VGA inputs on the scaler boards could indicate the computer video board is no good. A scaler board with a damaged VGA input may still work on any of it's other inputs.

my bet is that he bought used LCD monitors and all of them died (relatively) shortly afterwards due to crappy caps or other problems.. and his conclusion was that the computer is killing them..
              just a thought..
