Use your Iiyama prolite as the good/spare ccfl. You don't have to remove the ccfl from the Iiyama prolite. Just stretch the Benq cable to the Iiyama ccfl (make sure the two lcds don't touch).

      Thanks retiredcaps!
Really good step by step. I started with the CCFL lamp test first and
I found my problem on the second try. One of the lamps are the problem.
I hooked in a laptop ccfl and it did not turn black.

So what do I do now? Check cables and/or buy new CCFL or scrap the LCD?

In my books, anything LCD screen bigger than 19 inch is worth saving IF the costs are less than $20. This seems like a nice 21 inch monitor so I would bump that figure up to $30 or less. The environmental tax fee for buying a new LCD in Canada is $12 alone.

Members here have reported really good dealings with ccflwarehouse.com so you can search for a replacement ccfl.

Removing/replacing the ccfl is very delicate work. This tutorial gives you an idea of what to expect.

        http://ccflwarehouse.com/lasotu.html

ccflwarehouse.com sell bare, pre-assembled, pre-housed options. Bare is the cheapest.

Lovely, I will most likely try this. Seems delicate, but rewarding.
I don´t like throwing away otherwise perfectly good hardware.

Before you order, take apart and verify that the wiring is not the problem. Sometimes poor wiring will make it look like a bad ccfl. If it is the wiring, then your fix is $0.

Here are some good pics of bad ccfl and/or wiring ...

Yeah, I saw that and could have something similar. I will check tomorrow.
Thanks again for your help retiredcaps.

BTW, I noticed the date on the power board is Jan 11, 2008. I'm totally surprised that a ccfl would only last 2 years?

I don't know how often you use your lcd, but most lcds have brightness and contrast set near 90/100. I have all my lcds turned to around the 50 or less level and use screen saver and sleep mode to save power and the ccfls. I also have my computer/lcd connected to a power bar and shut off power at the power bar so the lcd is not always in standby mode.

Once you get this fixed, you may want to consider the same?

edit: If you are the original owner, I assume this is past warranty? And if you are the original owner, I think this monitor is worth saving because you know the history and if it is been abused or not!

Yeah I suspected it to be a faulty return cable and it turned out to be so. The faulty
ccfl was a little bit black and had some sot on it. So I re-soldered both of the return cables and
tried the screen. Voila the lights came on and stayed on. Problem solved.

However, a delicate work in this area really means a delicate work.
When I reassembled the ccfl one of the return cables must have strayed. So when I was flipping over the LCD panel it was slightly off center and didnt want to come down . So "the genius" tries with a thumb on it and just ever so slightly pushing it down. Snap, the LCD panel fractured. Ahhh, shows over. Lights out.

On the good side. I fixed my 2 sec to black. It was a bad or broken solder at the faulty ccfl return cable. The lamp itself was perfectly fine.

So I will probably save this screen since most of it is in good condition.

                    @retiredcaps
Actually I bought it for 20$ as I believed I could fix it. So no warranty to speak off. Thanks for your help, as usual I might have to say.

                    Cheers, Bluebear.

                      Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

                      Upon closer inspection...
