    Samsung Syncmaster 2220wm Problem

Hi I have a samsung syncmaster 2220wm, water got on the back of my monitor and it works fine, except when i go to play a game I have. The video and screen leading up to playing the game work fine, even the cinematics. But when I start to play, the screen tweeks out a bit and I see like rays of different colors coming and going. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Pictures (or video) of what you are seeing would help greatly. Are you certain it's the monitor? If you have another available, swap them and see if the problem persists or if it follows the monitor.

Well there is 2 monitors kinda side by side. I accidentally left the window open and it snowed last night and snow/water got in. Im not sure if both the monitors got water on it but when i woke up the one in front of the window had snow on it. The computer was running also.

I went to appearance in control panel and tried the game making each of them the primary monitor and they both do it. Do I have to completely unplug one? is the video connected somehow? I checked the floor where the actual computer is and its pretty well protected from the computer desk. which makes me think it has to be the monitor. heres some pictures of what im seeing. The big orange rays should not be there, and neither should the little ones on the right.

They both do it, meaning, you see the same orange rays on both monitors when both are set to primary (duplicate screens)?

If both monitors exhibit the issue, it's likely a problem with the video card itself (could be bad/damaged caps). Pop open the cover and give it a thorough inspection, and maybe post some pics of it (front/back).

          Samsung Syncmaster 740BF repair
          by soopacrucial
          Hi folks,

I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:

Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank. I seem to remember the blue power led would also go off when this happened but that I'm not 100% sure of. By pressing the power button I do remember I could at first get it working again but eventually the problem would come back. At the time I had read about...
