my past experience with cypress is "nice hardware, shame about the closed-source software lock-in"

Are there any other Bluetooth data logger device platforms that are open source software that works good and easy to use

you could use a bluetooth module and an arduino type board.
*but* bluetooth is not astandard, just a marketting label now.

you have the original 1.0 - 2.1 and then it goes to shit with 4.0+ and 5.0+ and BLE and "audio"
a lot of those arent cross-compatable.
