I didn't read the entire thread but I would like to state that I've been using a xtronic hot air station for at least 3 years and it's still running great. It is super noisy why higher than 50% but it was incredibly cheap. I think I paid $70 for it. I use it almost daily for iPhone board repairs and other random things like heating up labels from packages so I can reuse a box without making it look like it was delivered before :p
