What makes an arbitrary waveform gen (AWG) to look special ?

In the past two years there are many fresh made arbitrary waveform generators.
And I am talking in the range of 400 – 600$.

They have dual channels and they called as economy versions.
Usually the A channel would have 100MSa/s sampling and the B channel 12.5MSa/s and their most common specifications are 8bit Amplitude resolution & Waveform length 1024 points.

And here comes my question, which are the specifications that look more important to you when you are interested to select one?

The first question is what will the instrument be required to do? What is the required frequency range, what is the required maximum distortion, what is the required accuracy and stability? For general purpose bench use, just choose the best you can afford, and don't worry about lab quality equipment that is intended for design and production testing.
    Is it plugged in?
