Sony KDL-40Z4100 14 Blinks Tcon Error

Searching shows this model suffers from failing AS15 gamma IC chips. My TV shows 14 blinks. I disconnected the LVDS connector and the TV powers up with a green front LED and backlight coming on. I checked the Tcon board for fuses but couldn't find any. Would a bad AS15 chip produce this error code? There are a few sellers on ebay with a repair service but it looks like all they do is replace the AS15 chip.

Don't think bad as15 would cause not to start unless shorted. Problem probably elsewhere on the board
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

The shopjimmy repair kit shows a fuse as well as the AS15. Will look for it.

What does it do when you leave lvds connected but remove ribbon cables between t-con and panel?

Gotten a little further since I found the service manual online. There is no troubleshooting guide or legend for the blink codes but schematics of the main board. Nice to be able to search net names and reference designators on both the schematic and component layout diagram.

I found the fuse F101 which is located on the far side of the Tcon opposite the connector. It tested good but only measured about 1.9VDC on both sides. I got the same voltage on pins 47-50 of the LVDS connector. I should be getting 12V. REG12V on pin 7 from the PS board measured good and goes through an onboard fuse F1422 and is switched with a FET Q1423 on the main board by a control line on the processor. With the LVDS connector unplugged, I got 0V at the TCON supply voltage.

Will check F1422 and Q1423 as next step. Wondering if the fuse in Shopjimmy kit is for the main board instead of the TCON. Stay tuned.

F1422 was open and I replaced it with a fuse from a KDL-40XBR6 board which had a 14 flash code as well. TV now powers up but has gamma issues so the AS15 chip needs to be replaced as well. Appears the shopjimmy repair kit has the right parts.

              Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
              by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

              Sony KD-55AG9 TCON?
              by bbrain
              Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
              It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

              Thanks in advance!...

              Hi all,

I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

Any Sony experts out there that can help??...

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?
              by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
              a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
              b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...
