    ECS / Acer 845GV-M2

I have an ECS 845GV-M2 in an AcerPower S Series PC. I have attached some pics off of a website so the locations & Size/Series of cap could be easily recognized. This board has multiple bad caps. All OST Brand. The Main.jpg gives an overview of the entire board. The Zoom.jpg shows some of the caps that are bad.

The 3 16v 2200uf 10mm are all bulged as well as most of the dozen 6.3v 1000uf 8mm caps some of which are next to the CPU. The Pannies all look good.

My options of caps available to replace the 16v 2200uf caps are: Rubycon PX or United Chemi-Con KZE. The rubycons are the correct 10mm size but the KZE's are actually 12.5. I also don't know which cap would be the right fit on ripple & ESR. I prefer to use Ruby's whenever possible.

    I'm changing all of the 6.3v 1000uf's with Rubycon MBZ's @ 6.3v 1000uf 8mm.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Niether of the 16v 2200uF caps you mentioned would be a perfect match. The ruby PX are general purpose and would be unsuitable. the KZE would be a better option, since they are Low ESR caps. The closest replacment I could find was panny FM. Even they aren't a perfect match, but they would be close enough.

EDIT: These would be a perfect match. Go with these.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

i've got the exact same board here. PITA to find informations on it. ECS doesn't have it listed on their website, and the only sites mentioning it are some chinese ones which show some 640x480 webcam photos and list the basic specs.. that's it..
didn't even know it came out of an Acer till now..

caps are still OK on mine (at least from the looks), but i'm having a different problem.
the previous owner flashed a wrong BIOS...
now.. since this is an OEM board and there's next to nothing on the web about it, i've got this (probably) perfectly fine board here but no original BIOS file to flash it.. great job ECS

if you get it running again, would you mind making a backup copy of yours and upload it somewhere..?

if i ever get it working again, i thought about Rubycon ZL's as a replacement for those 12V input caps (also OST on mine, none bulging (yet))

Scenic, OST don't often bulge when they fail.

          Re: ECS / Acer 845GV-M2

OK here is how the repair went. I replaced the 3 x 16v 2200uF 10mm with the KZE 16v 2200uF 12.5mm caps. There was plenty of room on the board for the larger caps and the 10mm & 12.5mm caps used the same lead spacing so it went pretty easily.

          I replaced the 3 x 6.3v 1000uF next to the CPU with MCZ 10v 1000uF 8mm & I replaced the other 10 x 6.3v 1000uF with MBZ 6.3v 1000uF 8mm Caps.

All seems to be working properly and stable. As for the Bios I'm just going to post the available bios from the acer website for the acerpower s220 which is the model of this machine.

          Thanks to all!
