ok, did you heat, looks like ic901 with a hairdryer for a couple minutes and try the tv?

also test c909 next to ic901, I do a simple continuity test, usually expect continuity on only one side of mlc cap c909.

disregard posts #22, 23, it is on bottom side, if Budm's fix dont work then might have to replace IC101 and or NEu AS7 next to it, they sell them in a kit along with the audio chip that isn't usually needed I believe.

can probably test it by heating IC101 for a couple minutes with a hairdryer and try the tv.

What am I looking for with the hairdryer? to bring the symptoms on right at start up? or should symptoms go away?

Re: Samsung LN52A550 with HDMI issues

sometimes if the component is isn't too far gone the heat makes it work for just a bit but it doesn't always work and the component can still be bad of course, it's just a test, in most cases with borderline capacitors the heat brings the esr down just enough to make it work for a bit.

Thanks, for the help! I have ordered replacement caps 47 uF from digikey, and I am trying to steal my wifes blowdryer to take to my workspace. LOL. Will keep you all informed. Unfortunately my 'daytime' job has me working long hours and will prolly be a week before I can get back to it.

Well, thanks for all the help folks! Replaced the caps with tant 47 uF Panasonic from Digikey. Did the trick! Working like a charm and it is off the boat anchor list now! Really appreciate everyones input. Didnt get any better with hair dryer, but it was worth a try. Replacing the caps...nice! Thanks Budm too!
