you are putting neg probe on screw holes correct???? those readings are high....on some and low on others..



is that the only ram stick you have just that one?

On screw holes correct,only have 1 stick of memory

Also check the ones that look like coke cans. I see a few by the battery port.

see if you can find another stick of ddr3 can be from another laptop not likely to be bad but does happen.... restest with a known good ram stick...

lets check all your diodes, set your dmm to diode, put neg and positive probe on each side of smd package and it should get reading one way and 0 the other way when probe is switched....



if you get reading both ways you will need to desoldier it and retest on the table however remember to keep track of the markings and make absolute sure you put it back the same direction it came off .... mark where the line is so you don't put it back on backwards....

diodes let voltage go one way and not back the other way very much like a one way valve for water pump in your house....

here is a picture of what they look like and different packages they can come in and not to be mistaken for smd capacitors sometimes they kinda look like each other ....take a picture or the ones you already have and mark each one you tested so we can make sure your not testing the wrong thing.....

and research on youtube how to test diodes and different packages they come in so you can educate yourself as well.... some times they will read both ways then you have to retest out of circuit because other things in board can give you a false reading ...if still reads both ways out of circuit then it is bad ....

8 of the diodes are not reading right.

Is this normal to have 8 diodes not read right. one part of the board the diodes read good. the rest of the board were bad.

Do they have any markings? you need to know what kind of diode it is before considering it bad.

Those are capacitors.... let me download the pictures and I will set something up for you to check.
