    maytag 8507p240-60 oven control

You know, I don't go out searching for the bad caps... they just find me.

Oven has acted semi strangely once or twice a year for a while. It's only 3 years old though. I didn't think much of it until almost all the segments on the display lit up and the oven was unusable. Pulled the control unit, visual inspection yielded no obvious signs. Replaced all the caps anyway, works great now.

    Old caps, 33uf 16v.

Nichicon polymer caps. Overkill? Of course! Hoping they can take the heat better though. There were two other caps on the other board, they were replaced too.

    Working again!

    Great repair job.
It can get a bit hot inside, even when there is separation between heat sources.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

clearchris - any chance you can offer an update on your oven repair? I've got the same model seemingly doing what you describe, so I'm going to give my first component repair a whirl. Are these suitable capacitors?

no, those caps you linked are surface-mount.
the board clearly uses caps with leads on them.
