I was working on an HP PC Pavillion a6000 and came across this HDD: Samsung HD320KJ

But here's the kicker, Samsung may be a fat liar!

Despite Samsung says this model is 7,200 RPM, it acts a lot like a 5,400 RPMer!

18 ms random seek--> appalling for 2007 and later standards!

And I noticed the power ratings for the HDD:

The 5 V rating is higher than the 12 V rating-->Usually seen with 5,400 RPM models!

i got the same model here and i get an avg time of 14.4ms at max 80.4 and avg 61.4MB/s. that looks a lot like 7200rpm to me.
maybe AAM is enabled?

Samsung has never been good with hard drives.
I remember getting hold of one of their first hard drives and they were awful.

If it was just the AAM, it simply wouldn't change, even when I used a utility from Samsung!

It didn't give me an error, I just didn't see any change! I benchmarked it with HD Tach.

14 ms would be a lot better!
