Re: system is getting dog slow

I just finished a client machine with exactly the same symtoms as described by the OP.

At first, I thought it was the crap software installed (Norton, SBC Global, Rosetta Stone, Anonymizer, Sponge Bob, etc, etc, etc).

I checked the event logs, and saw non-stop disk errors, so went down the merry path chasing a suspect bad drive. Under BART-PE, Ghost crapped out continuously. I had to remove the drive to a different machine to get a good image. The drive checked out 100% OK with Sea Tools.

In the end, it was the power supply. Bestec 250 on an eMachine T2660.
I swapped it out on a hunch, and the machine instantly came to life, no more event log errors for disk or controller.

I recently replaced my fathers PSU.
He had a badcap on the 12 volt rail and I don't get good reviews of hipro.
      Find Nedry!

      Check the Vending machines!!
