    Thinkpad X390 Ram Upgrade

    Hi there,

I'm planning on performing a Ram upgrade for my X390 and I have the boardview and schematics. To my understanding, there was a X390 configuration sold with 32GB and I'd really like to upgrade to that, but the schematics I have only list the memory chips for the 8GB and 16GB variants. I assume the schematic I have is a first revision, while the 32gb config came out later on in the products lifespan, as there is no reference of it anywhere in my schematic. Only the 8 and 16.

Maybe someone with a 32GB motherboard could read off the IC part number?

    Thanks,

Hey, did you have any progress?

My schematics do mention the 32GB version using Samsung chips and how to adjust the resistor straps but only the 8GB and 16GB versions have the specific part numbers listed.

No I haven't made any progress. I found the datasheet for the familiar of Samsung chips that is listed as the 16gb variant in the schematic, and they have a 32gb part number, so it's possible that it is the same, but you never know.

Maybe if I had a better understanding I could just pick the right DDR4 chip by filtering through specs, but I am not equipped with that knowledge.

I might just do the 16gb upgrade honestly.

Let me know if you do the 16 GB upgrade. My X390 16 GB uses the Micron chips
