    Which SFF barebone?

    Hello,

I'm currently looking for a good Cube-style SFF for socket AM2. I'm looking between the Shuttle, AOpen's, ASUS's, and MSI's. My question is, does Shuttle and MSI still use bad caps? I'm pretty sure ASUS and AOpen don't as I've looked through a few SFFs made by both companies and the recent ones have decent caps, mostly KZGs or Nichicons save maybe one or two OSTs on the PCI socket area.

KZG isn't saying much, I see those bad all the time. Nichicon's will be ok as long as they've shy'ed away from the HM and HN series caps, which I also see bad all the time. I honestly dont know what Shuttle and Aopen are using these days. If it's any consolation for Asus though, I bought an Asus P4 barebones for a client about a year ago, and it was all Rubycon.

just an update to this really old thread, i got a shuttle. it has a lot of Chemi-Cons, only maybe a few KZGs, while the others are KZ(E?)s. There are a few OST/RLXs, but maybe 5 maximum, with only one above 1000uF. The powersupply, made by Elanpower, has a Hitachi main input and one UCC/one OST for the two output caps. So overall, pretty good, but those SFF cubes are tiny and the heat might blow the OST 1000uF right next to the PCI slot.
