    Acer Aspire x1700

    Hi,
    I am thinking of bidding on this as an introduction to fixing PC motherboards.

    I am currently learning laptop boards and am getting proficient at diagnosing power faults and rectifying them, BGA reballing etc. I want to get into desktops too.

    Any advice on whether it might be a good start? It is dead and has been diagnosed as the motherboard being defective. Are schematics available?

      It seems kind of expensive for just a "try". Do you have a desktop computer and a spare hard drive? You could then get just a faulty motherboard and use your current build.
