    A sigh of relief.....IT WORKED!!!

Being all bummed out about shelling $40 for new capacitors I discovered that my iron was too cold. I then had to spend a good hour and a half in a cold garage slaving over a dim light and a hot soldering iron. In a split moment however I noticed on one hole a problem...bart of te foil tube was ripped out! I tried to ignore the obvious and continued on. At dinnertime tonight i completed reassembly of the computer. I plugged it in, switched on the APC and took a deep breath as i pushed the button.
    First, the speakers popped.
Then the drives began to spin up.
And finally, the sound of success.....

    BEEP!!

Even with a damaged foil tube the board is running fine and is incredibly stable. Thanks to all who helped me on this project.

I just got spooked a few minuets ago.

I was busy playing a game (riven) and suddenly I heard a bang and my APC tripped out. I immediatly shut off the power from my control panel and thought the worst "Did I miss a cap?"
To my relief it was just a power supply for something else. one of it's internal capacitors blew, causing a surge to bypass the power bar and get caught in the APC thus triggering the safety cutout.
