    One bad cap. Unstable ethernet.

The MSI board I'm running right now seems to have a single cap that's venting for the VRM's.

The system is rock solid aside form the ethernet constantly burping. Sure I can recap it but you think that might be the culprit for my ethernet woes too?

Probably won't fix the problem. Can you check for more KZG near the ethernet chip on the board?

I think it could be, that one is visibly showing symptoms but maybe more of the KZG's are out of spec but not showing symptoms. Looks to be a lot of them...doesn't hurt to reinstall/update the driver though.

Is it getting clean power from a good PSU?

The corsair 550 watt PSU is in fantastic condition still.

Aside from all but my rear USB ports locking the system instantly when used I have not had any other issues with the board since a reinstall a month ago. The cap was spotted a day earlier while blowing out the insides.

One bad cap is all it takes...and a flaky ethernet is a common symptom (any onboard device can become unstable under this circumstance). Replace all the KZG's, and I'll lay odds that the board will be spiffy afterward.

iMac A1418 - No LED, no power after overvoltage on Ethernet port
              by ryogadan78
Hi guys, I need your help again.
I have this iMac from a customer that shut down during a storm along with all the other devices in the house. In particular, the router, connected via Ethernet to the iMac, caught fire.
When I removed the screen from the iMac to check the status of the LEDs, I noticed that none of them were lit. I had a perfectly compatible and working power supply, so I tried it right away, but the problem remained the same (no LEDs). With the thermal camera, I noticed only a slight warming (32 degrees) of the NCP1605BG chip on the power supply. The rest was completely...

              Equipmet to trace Ethernet signal
              by gsan33
I have Avaya 9641G IP Phone wich reports "No Ethernet" on the screen during initial start. I have intention to trace an Ehternet signal from the very input RJ45 jack throuth the phone mptherboard to the Broadcom communication CPU input pin.
Need youe advice how to: first I have suggested to buy an oscilscope, but not sure what to select, the pro version may become too expencive, and basic version may not capture high frequesncy signal. I really don't what to spend a fortune just for the pleasure to see the Ethernet frames. I also considered to measure just an AC voltage at the...

Xbox 360 Elite Ethernet not working
              by orfeous
I've got a Xbox 360 Elite with a Jasper V1 or V2 PCB as far as I know. 150W PSU and rated for 12.1A and the Xbox has the MFD 2009-10-14

Issue is that there was a lightning outside and now the ethernet does not work. Power cord was unplugged. Only ethernet cable was plugged in. The router and some other stuff died.

No error codes. Xbox seems to work as I should. When i plug the ethernet cable in nothing happens. Dashboard only tells me to plug in a ethernet cable. Or i don't remember.. if Ethernwr maybe was greyed out since it didn't recognize a connection.
