Rubycon 6.3v 2700uf MFZ

I have 2 of these on my eVGA mother board that have bad caps. I believe it was a cooling issue over time that caused the problem.

I did search and found this post that refer to the Rubycon 6.3v 2700uf MFZ 10mm.

The post is about a year old and wanted to see if the same advice of a replacement would still hold true as it didn't seem 100% at the time. Here was the recommendation.

Yes, the HZ will work.

Keep in mind the HM, HN and HZ are discontinued meaning you soon won't be able to order them when they're out of stock. So if Mouser still has them, order them, otherwise don't count on Mouser restocking.

MFZ are specialty OEM caps Rubycon makes and sells only to OEMs, and never published specs for. Judging by the fact that they are routinely used in the Vcore of Xboxes, and also going by the ratings of a single model posted in a Maxim data sheet, it's safe to assume they are better than MCZ, and either slightly inferior to, or equal to HZ. Either way, HZ is the only electrolytic that equals or exceeds the MFZ.

If your MFZs died, heat may not be your only issue, a horrible power supply that's putting out horrific amounts of ripple is a likely co-culprit!

As Topcat pointed out, he carries the HZ series and they are currently in stock:

Definitely check for dead fans, clogged vents, etc. and pop open the PSU and have a look inside, odds are you'll have some more caps to replace.
